Mizuura Mikuji

1. Offered by the Kibune Jinja shrine, mizuura mikuji is a type of omikuji (paper fortune) that is rather unique.

2. Because the Kibune Jinja enshrines a water deity, mizuura mikuji can only be read when the paper is placed on the sacred water. Once the paper is dry, the words disappear again.

3. This sacred water over which you float your omikuji is the natural alkalescent water that springs from Kibune-yama (Mt. Kibune). It is permitted to take home this water, free of charge. Don’t get too carried away by bringing your own big plastic water tank or jug, though!
