Aizu-Bandai is known for having some of the best snow in Japan. There are numerous ski resorts in the surrounding area, with "Hoshino Resort Alts Bandai" being one of the largest ski resorts in the Tohoku region. Straddling the three mountains of Mt. Bandai, Mt. Nekomadake and Mt. Mayatake, it boasts one of the largest selection of courses in the Tohoku region with 29 courses. The view overlooking Lake Inawashiro is also superb. On the other side of Mt. Travel a little further afield from "Mt. Bandai Hot Springs Hotel" and you are close to Aizu and Kitakata. Aizu and Kitakata are said to be the gateway to the Tohoku region, and they are also famous as tourist destinations where many historical treasures remain. You can search for the Aizu lacquerware of your liking, and it is also a good idea to go around visiting the many sake breweries there.
