Tottori Sakyu Conan / Yonago Kitaro Airport

Tottori / Sakaiminato

In the east you’ll find Tottori Sakyu Conan Airport and in the west, Yonago Kitaro Airport

Tottori’s two gateways to the sky are known for their unique names. On the eastern side of Tottori you’ll find Tottori Sakyu Conan Airport, and on the western side you’ll find Yonago Kitaro Airport. From Haneda Airport in Tokyo it takes around the same time to fly to either location. It’s best to choose the airport based on the tourist spots you want to visit. The Tottori Sand Dunes are closer to Tottori Sakyu Conan Airport. If you want to eat Matsuba crab in famous Sakaiminato, you should go to Yonago Kitaro Airport. Mount Daisen, Nageire Hall, and Misasa Hot Spring are all located at the midpoint between the two airports.

Renovated and renamed in March 2015 – Tottori Sakyu Conan Airport

Yonago Kitaro Airport is named after GeGeGe no Kitaro

Yonago Kitaro Airport gets its name from the famous Japanese manga, GeGeGe no Kitaro. It is so named because GeGeGe no Kitaro creator Shigeru Mizuki’s hometown is Sakaiminato City. Six round-trip flights daily are available to Haneda Airport in Tokyo. All over the airport you’ll find characters from the Kitaro manga that you can take a photo with. You’ll find a full assortment of souvenirs, from fresh fish from Sakaiminato Airport and Kitaro goods. Because this airport is close to neighboring Shimane prefecture, it is convenient for travelling there as well.
