Kiyosato is a plateau located 1,200 meters above sea level. In this idyllic area, one can enjoy a European atmosphere at Seisen-Ryo, a pension distinguished by its triangular red roof. Originally built in 1938 as a wilderness training camp for youths in commemoration of James L. Houghteling, founder of a Christian young men’s organization, the tranquil pension is surrounded by farms. The interior is decorated in the classic country style; visitors can also enjoy baths supplied by the pension’s own hot spring. Accommodating up to 300 guests, the pensions is visited by many throughout the year looking to spend a rewarding time in the great outdoors, from individual visitors to tourist parties.
